Terms and Conditions


These are the terms and conditions of service between Berkeley Catering and the client. Berkeley Catering reserves the right to amend or waive any terms and conditions for specific bookings and will notify the client in writing.

Confirmation and Quotes

The Client must confirm all event bookings and amendments in writing. A booking will not be considered to be confirmed until the deposit payment and the signed proposal has been received.

The Company reserves the right to revise catering quotes on changes to event. Final numbers are required five working days prior to the event date. The Client’s confirmation means the client has accepted these terms and conditions and the quotation. All menus confirmed when ordering are subject to availability. Catering quotes are valid for two months from the date of issue.

Event deliveries and Event Collections

To ensure that our delivery team can gain access as efficiently and safely as possible you are required to inform us of any issues that may affect delivery and collection. This may include parking restrictions, access to premises, use of stairs or lifts and any other Health and Safety issues that you are aware of.

Any deliveries and collections outside working hours are subject to additional fees depending on the nature, the location and the logistics of the event.

Parking Fines and Charges

Berkeley Catering reserves the right to charge the client for any parking charge fines incurred due to on-site and nearby parking restrictions, which haven’t been notified prior to the event.

Drinks on consumption

Unless, otherwise agreed, only 25% of alcohol quoted and supplied will be considered as sale or return and will only be accepted as a return if it is unopened, not damaged and in a suitable state to be resold. Non-alcoholic drinks are not on sale and return.

Food & Drink

Berkeley Catering is not responsible for the Food Hygiene or / and beverages provided directly by the client.

Rubbish

If at the request of the client and in agreement with Berkeley Catering, any wastage or rubbish associated with Berkeley Catering will be removed from the venue and dealt with in the most environmentally efficient means possible.

Staff

Unless otherwise agreed staff supplied by Berkeley Catering will be dressed in “Chef Whites” for all food handlers and for servers black trousers, black aprons, shirt and a Berkeley green tie.
48 hours’ notice is required to book waiting staff.

Prior to the event the staff will be full briefed on the nature of the event and what is required of them to meet clients’ need.

Please note that duties carried out will be dependent on the type of staff you have hired. To ensure you are fully aware of these various duties a job description will be discussed with you at the time of the booking.

At the end of the event, staff will clean down and clear all areas that have been used to prepare and serve food and drink. Other duties will need to be agreed upon with the client.  All equipment will be removed from the premises either after the event or when prior agreement is made, the next day.

Taxis must be provided by client for staff working before 6.00am and after 11.00pm.

Cancellation

Any cancellation made by the client must be notified to the company in writing.
Cancellations to be received five working days prior to event date. Any cancellation made by the client after five working days prior to event date the company reserves the right to retain the full deposit to compensate for costs incurred.

Payment Terms

Full payment of the quote is required for confirmed events from new clients or/and clients with no credit facilities, and must be paid five working days before the event date.

50% deposit is required from all existing clients five working days before the event date. The outstanding balance must be paid within 30 days.

Berkeley Catering will notify the Client of the deposit required and the date(s) of payment.

The invoice will be issued as soon as is practicably possible after the event date, to include any changes and all invoices are due for settlement within 30 days of the date of issue.

VAT

Berkeley Catering accepts all major credit cards and bank transfer.

All prices quoted are exclusive of VAT which will be applied at the relevant rate.

Queries from an invoice must be received in writing within five days of receipt.

Complaints

In the unfortunate instance that you may have a complaint relating to our service or food, this would need to be sent to us in writing within 24 hours of the order or event.

Please retain any food items which have not met your expectations, and we will arrange for a driver to come and collect in order for us to fully investigate the matter.

Should you have any issues with a member of staff that we have supplied please state in writing within 24 hours your complaint so that we may fully investigate the matter.

Loss and Damages

The company does not accept responsibility for personal property of the client or event guests and is left at the owners’ risk.

Liability

The company is not liable for any failure to provide any services due to any cause beyond its reasonable control including, without limitation, any of the following: act of God, governmental act, war, terrorist attack, fire, flood, explosion or civil commotion.

The company cannot be held responsible for late deliveries out of our control which include act of God, governmental act, war, fire, flood, explosion or civil commotion. We will however keep the customer informed on any estimated late arrival of goods and services.

Berkeley Catering is not liable for any costs incurred to damage to property inside a venue / client office that is not the sole fault or actions of any Berkeley employee / representative.
